Our Former Boat
Completed in 2002, Onward is a Nordhavn 40, hull number 30.
Built in Southern California by Pacific Seacraft, she was christened Pilgrim by her first owner and then Net Effect by the second.
We renamed her Onward as soon as we bought her in 2014, partly because it describes our lifestyle — we’re always moving onward. She was a great boat for us but we sold her in 2021 with plans to purchase a bigger boat. We had our eyes on a Kadey-Krogen 48 North Sea but once we finally sold our Nordhavn the prices on previously owned trawlers rose considerably because the Covid-19 shakeup caused demand to rise dramatically without a corresponding increase in supply.
We decided to buy a house on land but figured out within just a few months that we missed the boating life, so we started making plans to do just that. For tax purposes we held onto our house for two years and then sold it immediately.
