We really dislike cruising in fog.
Even with a good radar system and four well-tuned and attentive eyeballs, it is dangerous and nerve-racking.
In fact, we make it our practice to never begin a cruise if there’s fog. We have had days when we’ve pulled up our anchor and headed out only to return to the anchorage after we’ve run into thick banks of fog just outside our anchorage.
We would rather be safe than sorry.
However, there are times when fog just appears — even on an otherwise perfect day.
We’re grateful that this is a rare occurrence but it’s certainly beautiful when it happens.
